Earl Nightingales 3 steps to success

We live in a world where access to information is easier then ever. With that being said, some would say that it is our duty as individuals to seek out knowledge to not only improve ourselves, but the world around us.

"If I have seen further than others, it is by standing upon the shoulders of giants. "
-Isaac Newton

There are a great many teachers that have existed and that number continues to grow, and one of the original teachers of financial abundance says it like no one else. Below are Earl Nightingales 3 steps to success

  • Understanding the law- Knowing that what we reap is an exact proportion to what we sow. In other words the money you make is a reflection of what you do, how well you do it and how hard it is for you to be replaced. Take in consideration how good you are at your job, how much do you know about it and can you improve yourself. The more you educate yourself on the in’s and out’s of your type of work you eventually become an expert in your field. An expert is not only recognized as such, but becomes indispensable to their company or community there by increasing his or her income and creating a greater and greater safety net of income.
  • The Gold mine- Do you think for yourself or do you conform to the majority of the world around you. The game changers of this world used their brains to purposely be creative in order to follow their dreams. They take the time to think outside of the box. The human brain can conjure up thousands of ideas, most may be bad, but it only takes one idea to create millions of dollars. Conforming and copying others makes you like them and keeps you limited. We are all unique individuals with unique perspectives, abilities and skills. It is worth taking time every day to tap into and think about who we really are and what we really want out of  this life. Take time  everyday to create lists of ways that you can use to improve your life or to follow your dreams.
  • Attitude- Ones attitude towards the world is reflected back at him by his environment. In other words we become what we think about the most. What are you thinking about all day long? Do you see problems or solutions? Are you thankful for what you have or constantly focused on what you don’t have or what others have? Putting on a good attitude utilizes the law of cause and effect for good. Decide to be happier, to be more grateful, focus on the good let go and forgive the bad and soon opportunities will show them selves to you where once you saw nothing. A person with a great attitude is considered lucky, but in reality he is thankful.

"People think I’m happy because I’m rich, but I’m rich because I’m happy!"

Introduction into recognizing the EGO and learning to let it go

We don’t see things as they are, we see things as we are”
-       Anais Nin

The ultimate truth is that we are beings of pure love, joy, abundance and energy. We create our own lives through our thoughts, feelings, beliefs and actions. The illusion is that we are not this, but the opposite. To understand this illusion, we must understand what the ego is and how it affects our consciousness. Imagine yourself as a mirror, that when clean the truth is like the Suns reflection lighting up your whole world in a million and one ways. The ego is a dirty mirror full of grimy false ideas, opinions and beliefs about the world that drive our actions, habits and reactions. Some of these ideas have been there since child hood and are so raw and gunky that we can not see past them.

It is our perspective, our consciousness that needs to be washed in order for long lasting deep change to occur. If life is hard for you and you get angry a lot then the ego has gotten hold of you and your mirror is very dirty. Seeing reality for what it really is, is virtually impossible.  In order to wash the mirror conscious effort has to be taken daily to help recognize the limits of the ego. Recognizing what the ego is, is a good first step.

What the Ego is:
  • ·      A survival mechanism gone out of hand
  • ·      The shadow of your true self
  • ·      Fear
  • ·      Worry
  • ·      Anger
  • ·      Depression
  • ·      Sadness
  • ·      Anxiety
  • ·      Over thinking
  • ·      Putting others down
  • ·      Holding on to the past
  • ·      Living in the future
  • ·      A negative voice in your head
  • ·      Attachment to all things including ideas you think are real
  • ·      False beliefs, ideas, habits and negative reactions
  • ·      The need to be right
  • ·      Competitive nature
  • ·      Not being able to enjoy time alone
  • ·      Waiting to respond and not listening to others

3 ways to help over come and cleanse the consciousness from the Ego:

1.     Meditate-Regular and consistent spiritual practices like meditation can quiet the mind enough for you to recognize how attached you are to your thoughts. Recognizing a difference between you and your thoughts is a good way to see that you are more then them, which helps you let go of the ones that feel bad. Doing so helps you see the domino effect from your thoughts and beliefs to your reactions, actions and over all habits. Life starts from the inside, if you want to change the world around you start with acknowledging what you think off and then choose to consciously think better.

2.     Make a list, then ask for help- Make a list of all ego behaviors like anger, jealousy, hate etc. that you would like to let go off. Then in meditation or before sleep ask your higher power to clean those negative traits from your consciousness and then be thankful for them being cleansed. Repetition of this is necessary, cleansing the consciousness takes time, patience, belief and expectation that change is happening.

3.     Befriending the Ego- The Ego thinks its helping you always, by trying to make you right, make you feel better and by putting others down. It can cause a number off emotions to take over and start fights with others. If you can recognize when the ego steps in to help you out in such ways. Take a breather, step back from yourself or literally from the situation and give your ego some appreciation for its trying to help you out. Then take an extra moment and ask your higher power how to handle the current situation and give thanks that the solution will come.

What you are is a mind set, your body, your life are all extensions of your mind. Just as you are an extension of your higher power. It takes time to clear mental clutter so Re-member “cleanliness is next to godliness”.

Acupuncture and the Spleen

The spleen, according to chinese medicine, is an organ of immense importance in the human body. In todays scientific world we're just beginning to see it for all it does for us. Thanks to research we're learning that it recycles and stores immune and blood cells, creates the immune cells that protect us internally and externally, matter of fact its the largest lymphatic organ in the body, so its vital for fighting off infections.

These attributes are significant to our health, but in Chinese medicine the spleen does so much more, it is essentially what helps us function optimally. It is part of the digestive system and because of this its reach is through out the body. It helps control the break down of food in the stomach, which in turn breaks down into every new cell being born, including blood, bone and immune cells.

Acupuncture For Bell's Palsy

Acupuncture for Bell's Palsy has a high success rate especially when treatment is sought as soon as possible. Bell's Palsy is a sudden inflammation of the 7th cranial nerve that is typically caused by sleeping with your face near an open window. While asleep the body's defense mechanism isn't as strong and exposure to cold air, which typically causes a cold invades the body and causes more damage then it usually would.

The most common symptoms of bell's palsy are as follows:
  1. Paralysis, weakness or numbness of one or both sides of the face
  2. Difficulty speaking, drooling
  3. Dry eyes or constant tearing of the affected eye
  4. Loss of taste
  5. Pain around the ear
When treating bell's palsy there are three factors that have to be addressed:
  1. Expelling the pathogenic factor (cold virus)
  2. Stimulating qi and blood flow to effected parts of the face
  3. Boosting the immune system to reinforce the first two factors
In acupuncture it is good to treat not only the affected area directly, but as well as distal points on the hands and legs that are internally connected to the face. The back of the neck and shoulders also hold some great points to help expel pathogenic factors and increase blood flow to the face.

There could be up to 2 dozen acupuncture points on the face that can be used to treat bells palsy, which are also good to stimulate with acupressure. Stimulating the points for up to a count of 100 a few times a day is a good way to bring blood to the face. Here are a hand full of some of the best points to stimulate on the face and their other uses besides for bell's palsy. Check out the above picture to see where they're located.

  1. GallBladder 14 - Frontal Headaches
  2. Stomach 2 - Any Eye Problems
  3. Stomach 4 - Facial Pain, Trouble Eating
  4. Governing Vessel 26 - Brings energy to face, good for driving late at night.
  5. Triple Burner 23 - Eye swelling and pain
Usually for bell's palsy it takes 2 treatments a week for about 5 weeks to bring the face back to a normal state depending on how soon treatment was sought. The more time that passes, the more difficult it is to really revive the facial muscles to go back to normal, so doing self acupressure is a great way to help heal the face.

Acupuncture treatment for Tinnitus (ringing in the ears)

Tinnitus or ringing in the ears is one of lifes little annoyances for some people it comes and goes and for others its there constantly. It makes hearing difficult and can get worse over time and the longer its been around the harder it is to treat. Ringing in the ears can be caused by a number of issues, which can range from having anxiety or to common lifestyle choices.

According to Chinese medicine all organ systems in the body can have some effect on the ears such as the heart, lungs, gallbladder and liver, but the organ that is most associated with the ears are the kidneys. The kidneys also provide the body's fundamental energy that carries us through life. If the kidneys become deficient many things can occur such as chronic fatigue, being constantly cold, excessive urination, asthma, knee pain, low back pain and of course low pitched ringing in the ears. High pitched ringing is more closely associated to the Liver/Gallbladder organs and stress/anxiety.

The following is a list of some things that can cause kidney deficiency:

  1. Overwork- Drains the kidneys energy
  2. Aging- Natural kidney energy loss
  3. Poor Diet- Too much dairy or greasy foods can weigh down the body's energy
  4. Excessive sexual activity-  Drains the kidneys energy

Besides the kidneys and the functioning of other organs in the body, another issue that can commonly occur to cause ringing in the ears is something called phlegm. Phlegm is an obstruction that can build up in the head and not only cause ringing in the ears, but also can cause
a poor sense of smell and a heavy feeling head. This primarily can come from a really poor diet,
a bacterial or viral infection and or from having other chronic(longterm) issues.

Usually for ringing in the ears there is a combination of the above issues that may be the cause and
there are usually other issues that need to be addressed along with the ringing in the ears. There are many
acupuncture points that are connected to the ears, and with proper diagnosis discovering the
true cause of the ringing is the best way to figure out what points to use.

However, there are 3 points in particular that can have a strong effect over the ears, each point is
connected to a different channel, so many things can be addressed by using all 3 of them at the same
time. They lie directly in front of the ears on both sides of the head. They are also local ear points that
when stimulated can send increased blood flow to the area helping move any local obstructions
like phlegm. Massaging these points on a regular basis may temporarily help with acute ringing in the ears.

These points are from top to bottom Triple Burner (TB) 21, Small Intestine (SI) 19 and Gallbladder
(GB) 2. They lie adjacent to the ear and can help regulate the ear functioning when stimulated,
it's easy to massage all three and it can be done as long as desired.

For chronic issues it is best to consult an acupuncturist to get a full diagnosis made and to have a full
body treatment to help get to the root of the cause. Ringing in the ears can be difficult to treat, but with
proper lifestyle and diet choices and with the help of a fully licensed acupuncturist a difference can
be made.
