Acupuncture and the Spleen

The spleen, according to chinese medicine, is an organ of immense importance in the human body. In todays scientific world we're just beginning to see it for all it does for us. Thanks to research we're learning that it recycles and stores immune and blood cells, creates the immune cells that protect us internally and externally, matter of fact its the largest lymphatic organ in the body, so its vital for fighting off infections.

These attributes are significant to our health, but in Chinese medicine the spleen does so much more, it is essentially what helps us function optimally. It is part of the digestive system and because of this its reach is through out the body. It helps control the break down of food in the stomach, which in turn breaks down into every new cell being born, including blood, bone and immune cells.
